New laws covering self-employment in Spain come into effect

The new law, which comes into effect this weekend and is the result of three years of negotiations, gives the self-employed in Spain (known as autonomos) various new possibilities and when various other measures come into effect next year [the government apparently has one year to pass the legislation) will gives additional protections.

Obviously this law will have the biggest impact upon Spanish workers, but undoubtedly there are many foreigners working in Spain as autonomos who will also be affected in one way or another.
