Mazaarron council to increase fight against mosquitoes, rats and cockroaches

Mazarron mayor Francisco Blaya has announced an increased campaign to combat the plagues of mosquitoes and other nuisances such as rats and cockroaches. The problems are particularly intense during the summer months and provoke complaints from tourists visiting the area. Mazarron Council apparently spends €107,000 a year to the company it has contracted to perform the eradication service. These sanitation and health protection measures are carried out by means of aerial spraying using helicopters as well as land-based methods and will in future be extended to cover both the nearby Mazarron Country Club and Camposol urban developments.
