Mazarrón council staff express solidarity against latest ETA outrage

Generally I have, as a foreign guest in this country, refrained from comment about Spanish domestic politics, but I think the show of solidarity today by the staff of Mazarrón council with a 5-minute period of silence outside the council offices at 12.00 hours today does indeed merit a mention. The Mayor of Mazarrón was joined by council staff and local residents in the silent vigil to express regret at the killing of Brigadier Luis Conde de la Cruz yesterday morning outside a miltary academy in Santoña (Cantabria); the funeral takes place today in Segovia. The slaying is the third in 24 hours to be attributed to ETA. Shock at the horror of the recent series of slayings has united all political parties, labour unions and associations in condemning the outrages.
