Corvera Airport (Murcia) - EU approval pending for government guarantees

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, admitted yesterday before the full Regional Assembly that the Murcia Autonomous Community is not in possession of European Union approval for it to guarantee a loan for the 75% of the funding needed to complete the new international airport Corvera; the guarantee required is for €200 millions.

There is a lot more in the linked report about the political aspects of the debate in the Regioonal Assembly (the rivalry between to two main political parties here), but I know too little about Spanish politics to make any useful comment.

The possible problem with obtaining EU approval for Murcia government guarantees to allow completion of the airport was mentioned in my last article about the new airport at the end of January.
