Corvera Airport edges closer to opening?

This is a slow-moving project, which has been delayed by the parlous state of the Spanish and world economies - quite apart from this, sufficient traffic volumes have to be there to support the new infrastructure as a viable project.

However, back to the subject at issue, the Murcia Region counselor for Education, Training and Employment has announced that his department signed 'within days' of opening discussions an agreement with the concessionnaire of the future Corvera Airport for the future employment of the 575 people undertaking training courses. The announcement also includes the 'throwaway' comment that the date when the airport may commence operations is "expected in the first half of next year" ("previsiblemente en el primer semestre del año que viene"; this is the first recent mention I have seen of any timetable for opening this new facility.
