Spain approves energy saving measures to offset oil hike

The Spanish government yesterday approved an enery-saving measure, hoped to reduce oil imports by 5 per cent, saving the country €2.3bn a year. The measure involves reducing the national speed limit from 120 km/h to 110 km/h. The new national speed limit will come into force on Monday 7th March 2011 and will remain in force at least until 30th June 2011, when it will be reviewed and extended if considered necessary.
